Our team works hard to advocate for you, ensuring you receive the maximum coverage available under your warranty plan.
However, the extended warranty industry is currently undergoing some changes that may affect your repair experience. Warranty companies are:
- Limiting and capping repair costs that they reimburse to repair shops.
- Dictating parts selection, which can affect both the quality and availability of parts.
- In certain cases, providing their own parts that may not meet our high-quality standards.
Our Commitment to Quality and Transparency
At Thoroughbred Auto Care, we prioritize the safety and reliability of your vehicle. We believe that your repairs should never compromise on quality, which is why we use only the best parts and tools for each job. Due to these limitations imposed by some extended warranty companies, there may be occasions where we cannot absorb the cost differences, which could result in additional out-of-pocket expenses for you.

While we will always do everything we can to work within the framework of your warranty policy, there are times when costs may exceed your deductible, requiring an additional out-of-pocket expense.

CarMax Warranty Center
At Thoroughbred Auto Care, we honor CarMax warranties, among other third-party warranties. If you have been searching the internet for an auto center near you that works on CarMax-warranty-covered vehicles, we are happy to share that Thoroughbred Auto Care is your local shop that provides warranty-approved services and repairs for your CarMax-purchased vehicle. We work directly with your third-party warranty company.Â
Our team will help you navigate the CarMax MaxCare program to make it easier for you. All we require is that you have your policy/contract with you (should be in your glove box) or provide us with the name of the warranty company that was assigned to your vehicle. There are typically only three after-market warranty companies that work with CarMax.Â

The Warranty Procedure
All of the warranty companies we work with make the process easy. Once we have your VIN (Vehicle Identification Number) we can start the process. We can review your policy to make sure you are still in compliance with mileage and date. And, then we start the testing, inspection, and diagnostics to determine just exactly what the vehicle issue could be, with a complete estimate to review with you and the warranty company.Â
